Cilacap Regency has many potential to be developed. One of that potential is in the field of fishery. To improve the prosperity of traditional fishermen in Cilacap, the sector of fishery has been continuously developed. One of the effort to improve the field of fishery is by building oceanic fishery port of Cilacap.

PPSC stands for “Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudra Cilacap”, or Oceanic Fishery Port of Cilacap. This port is located only about 5 minutes from the heart of Cilacap City. The port was built to facilitates the fishermen with fine infrastructure.

Oceanic Fishery Port of Cilacap is a special port for fishing ships. This fishing port is located in Tegal Kamulyan. The strategic location of the port is one of the factor that contribute for the consistent development of fishery sector in Cilacap Regency.

Shrimp is one of the most favorite catches because the price is good and easy to sell. There is a company specialized in processing the shrimp as export commodity to Japan. The name of the company is Toxindo, which is located in Jl. Lingkar Timur Cilacap. Another fish processing company is Juifa which is specialized in processing various kinds of fishes into canned foods.

Cilacap is a growing regency that has done many things to ensure sustainable progress in the development of the regency. Many of the traditional fishermen now have fishing ship and ever longline ship. A longline fishing ship is a ship with the gross weigh of 30 tons or more.

As a regency which is located in the south part of Indonesia facing the Hindia Ocean, the potential in the development of fishery sector must be safeguard through the effective regulation by banning the used wrong kind of fishing methods to ensure future economic sustainability of the regency. Sustainable development is the main and crucial policy of Cilacap regency.
