Mining Sector Opportunities in Cilacap Regency

Mining Sector

Based on the inventory result of extractives, the Cilacap regency has some potential on mining products such as:

1. Gold Mine

Exploration of gold mine in Sadahayu village and its surrounding of Majenang sub-district, with its width of spread ± 2.000 hectares, its content is varied from 2 – 7 gram per ton. It has been given a permit of mining exploration authority to PT. Multi Daya Sempana (MDS) Jakarta of 85,84 hectares wide.

1. Bentonit Mine

In the village of Surian and Tayem, Karangpucung sub-district, with the amount of reserves of 10.000 m³ in an area of 1 hectares and an overburden thickness of 1 meter in average.

In the village of Bulupayung and Pesanggrahan, Kesugihan sub district with its reserves is as much as 30.000 m³, but further investigation about the prospect is still need to be done.

c. Trass Mine

Trass exploration in Bantarpanjang and Bantarmangu village, Cimangu sub-district with an estimated reserves of 83.022.500 m³ and has an activity index value for 7 days between 64,4 – 74% by reference of CPI-SP-008 has not done in detail. Therefore there still an opportunity for the investor.

1. Iron Sand Mine

Based on the Mine closing of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, per May 31, 2004, there is still iron ore reserve as much as 6.203.000 ton with its concentrates of 744.678,85 ton and total Fe level of 52,16 % that is scattered along the coastal region of Welahan Wetan village up to Jetis village. Therefore this is great enough opportunity for other investors to do an iron mining.
