The main food of Indonesian people is rice. The land in the island of Java is quite fertile because there are many volcanoes that provides natural fertilizer when they erupt. As the widest regency in Central Java, Cilacap produces more rice than its consumption. The surplus of rice is then sent to various big town in Java such as Semarang and Jakarta.

The surplus of rice in Cilacap is a positive indication about the efficiency of Cilacap farming since Indonesia is still importing rice from many other Asian countries. It is hoped that the farming sector in Cilacap is becoming better through the used of effective farming system.
